Vigy Fuglsang.

Psychotherapist, Couples-Counselor.

In the therapeutic process I strive to recognize, support, and nourish what is life-affirming in us and has found its way through all we have handled in life. From that starting point we can work with the challenging parts and take the next step of learning and change.

My approach is exploratory with emphasis on empathy, human warmth, and clarity.

Working with consent for the different interventions and steps in the process is one aspect of clarity, and you, of course, always have the possibility of choice. I also understand clarity as an aspect of our consciousness and awareness that is an important part of our ability to create change in our lives.

Over the last decade I have found alignment with modern therapeutic methods that clearly and naturally address the functioning of our autonomic nervous system and our instincts.

I attend regular supervision for both couples therapy and individual work.

My therapeutic work is primarily aimed at adults with a normal level of functioning, which means those not in need of psychiatric treatment.

My therapeutic background is rooted in several different traditions.

In the last decade I have trained in methods based on the newest research and evidence about how our psyche and body are interconnected with the being we are—through our body and mind and, not least, our awareness and higher intelligence.

In clinical work with trauma and developmental psychology, I especially value training with Laurence Heller in the NARM method (NeuroAffective Relational Model) for the insight and understanding it gives in working with developmental trauma.

I have also trained in NeuroAffective Psychotherapy (NAP) and in the NeuroAffective Compass methods developed by Susan Hart and Marianne Bentzen.

I am certified to treat shock and situational trauma with Somatic Experiencing (SE), developed by Peter Levine.

I am also trained by Jette Simon in couples therapy.

The training is primarily in Sue Johnson’s Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) and also in the Imago method developed by Harville Hendrix.

An important and very deep inspiration for my work comes from training with Jette Simon and her appreciative, very warm way of modeling Carl Rogers’ humanistic psychology.

I took my first steps as a therapist partly with cathartic therapies with Veeresh at the Humaniversity in the Netherlands and with primal therapists Svarup and Premartha de Koning in Italy, and partly with meditative therapies at Osho Multiversity International in India.

I have been interested in personal growth all my adult life, and I have found great inspiration in spiritual masters and their clear teachings about meditation, human consciousness, and potential.

From the 1980s until 1995 I also worked as a consultant, project and IT manager in computer and administration development projects and on technology transfer projects for the World Bank in Bangladesh.

My professional career peaked with that assignment in Bangladesh. During that time I saw living conditions in developing countries. My understanding of life and life circumstances for human beings reached a crucial point. I decided to change my vocation and begin working with people.

My work is rooted in my joy and is at the same time a process of my own development toward higher understanding and deeper insight: how to be human and realize the potential given by human consciousness.

I express my personal experiences of life through haiku poetry, which I create as a diary of moments inspired by the wonder of life.
